A session for middle and high school teachers (of all subjects) to think about how their in-class actions, policies, and procedures help/or hurt their credibility with students. We will first discuss why credibility matters (based on the current research). Then, we will talk about what teachers do to boost or damage their credibility with students. Finally, we will end with simple, easy-to-implement actions that can dramatically improve teacher credibility. This session should leave you with some concrete tweaks you can make to your classroom next week to make your teaching life easier for you and more effective for your students. This session draws from the work of Dave Stuart Jr. and his most recent book on student motivation, "The Will To Learn."
